Quick answer: I thought I was behind. Not a little behind—deeply behind. But here's what I'm learning: I wasn't behind at all. I was just living a different timeline.

For most of my life, I felt like I was behind.
Not a little behind…
deeply behind.
Like everyone else got a head start in life, and I was still trying to catch my breath.
I had a child at 14.
So my life didn't unfold the way it does for most people.
While others were figuring out who they were…
I was learning how to take care of someone else.
I had to grow up fast.
Too fast.
And even though I did everything I was supposed to do,
working full time, going to college, showing up every single day,
there was always this quiet feeling in the background:
"Life is passing you by."
The Life I Built… Still Didn't Feel Like Mine
I didn't get my first apartment until my early 30s.
And honestly… it wasn't even an apartment.
It was an extended stay hotel.
A small room.
A tiny kitchen.
Just enough space to exist.
But it was mine.
And I loved it.
There was something so special about that space
because for the first time, I had something that felt like mine.
But even then…
that feeling didn't fully go away.
Because deep down, I knew something:
I wasn't really living my life.
I was surviving it.
The Moment Everything Shifted
One day, I had a thought that changed everything:
"What have I done… just for me?"
Not for survival.
Not for responsibility.
Not for anyone else.
Just… for me.
And I didn't have an answer.
That realization hit me harder than anything else ever had.
Because it wasn't that I couldn't do more.
It wasn't that I didn't have dreams.
It was that I never gave myself permission
to step into a life where I could actually win.
The Truth I Had to Face
My problem wasn't a lack of ability.
My problem was this:
I wasn't putting myself in the field to win.
I was playing it safe.
Staying small.
Living inside the boundaries of responsibility.
And yes… responsibility matters.
But somewhere along the way,
I forgot that I mattered too.
What I'm Choosing Now
I'm not behind.
I was just living a different timeline.
A harder one.
A quieter one.
A more resilient one.
But now?
I'm choosing something different.
I'm choosing to show up for myself
I'm choosing to try, even if it's messy
I'm choosing to build a life that feels like mine
Not just one that looks "right" on paper.
If You Feel Behind Too…
Let me tell you something I wish someone told me:
You are not behind.
You just had a life that required more from you
before you ever got the chance to explore yourself.
That doesn't mean you missed your moment.
It means your moment is just beginning.
From Me to You
If you've been in survival mode your whole life…
this is your sign.
You're allowed to want more.
You're allowed to start over.
You're allowed to build something that's yours.
Softly.
Slowly.
In your own way.
This is your cozy comeback.
